Facts about Bath

The beautiful Somerset city of Bath takes its name from the Roman baths and temple fed by the hot springs that rise beneath the city.

Today the baths are a major tourist attraction, as are the magnificent Georgian Royal Crescent, Circus, Pump Room and Assembly Rooms, all built in the 17th Century when Bath’s popularity as a spa town exploded.

Bath Abbey, founded in the 7th Century, is another popular destination, renowned for its beautiful fan vaulting and stained glass.

The city itself is full of bustling streets lined with interesting shops, excellent restaurants and characterful pubs, bars and coffee shops.
